About the Conference

The Graphic Era (Deemed to be) University (GEU), Dehradun and National Radon Network Society will organize the Fifth National Conference on “Radiation Awareness and Detection in Natural Environment” at Department of Physics, GEU Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India during October 7-9, 2024. The conference will consist of an inaugural session, keynote lecture, invited talks, oral and poster sessions of contributory papers and a panel discussion. The eminent scientists, academicians and researchers from all across the country as well as abroad are expected to attend this conference.

Theme of the Conference

Background radiation is constantly present on Earth, primarily from natural sources like minerals in the ground, soil, water, and even the human body. Cosmic radiation from space also contributes to background radiation, varying by location and over time. These highly energetic particles from the sun and stars increase radiation levels at higher elevations. Ionizing radiation, capable of knocking electrons out of atoms (ionization), can damage living tissues and DNA, posing health risks. This radiation comes from cosmic particles, X-ray machines, and radioactive elements undergoing decay. Radiation protection aims to safeguard people and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. A conference will bring experts together to explore the interactions between environmental radiation and human health, focusing on the Himalayan geology and environment. The conference aims to enhance understanding, promote knowledge advancement, and solve key problems in natural radioactivity and related issues. The conference will cover all the key topics of natural radioactivity with special focus on the awareness, detection and effects of the presence of radiation in the human environment.

Purpose of the Conference

RADNET-2024 is intended to provide a common forum for researchers, scientists, engineers and practitioners throughout the world to present their latest research findings, ideas, developments and applications in the area of alternate energy resource, radiation detection, safety, environmental engineering and satellite technology etc. RADNET-2024 will include keynote addresses by eminent scientists as well as special, regular and poster sessions.

This conference will highly be beneficial to understand the radiological radiation, its impact, safety methods, future energy resources, Radiation distribution and measurement, in the context of Uttarakhand and Himalayan Environment. Scientific Intervention of earth scientific observatories and the space technology towards the protection of broad range of atmosphere and Radiation spectra will be discussed in the conference. It is noteworthy that, under one umbrella the panellist from various scientific backgrounds and experts in the related areas will search for the scientific methods and solution to understand the broad spectrum of Radiation interaction for Energy resources and its impact on Himalayan atmosphere. The deliberations during the conference will help the researchers, faculty and students to have better understanding of the Radiation, alternate Energy resources, terrestrial atmosphere, Aerosols existence and scientific interventions including methods of measurements in the context of Himalayan region.
